My name is Debbie. This blog is meant to be a creative outlet. I have never been big into writing, but as I have gotten older, there are just some things that you want documented. Things that you don't want to forget. Things that you look back on saying, "I can't believe I did that/was a part of that." This is what my blog is for.
I want to share things about different aspects of my life: my family, my home, and my passions.
My family has grown to include another entire family and a four-legged ball of energy. In July of 2015, I had the honor of marrying my best friend and the love of my life. He is everything I never thought I was looking for, and after almost two years long distance, we got hitched.
In October of 2015, we bought our first home. It seems like a quick turnaround from marriage to home owning, but when your lease is expiring, and you don't want to keep renting, you buy a house. Buying this house has been a blessing and a curse all rolled into one. We bought it with the idea that a renovation was going to happen. We have spent the last year and a half renovating and remodeling this home, and we're not even done.
Through my first apartment, my second apartment, and now our home, I have learned a lot about myself as a "homemaker". I put that in quotes because I am a full-time employee as a math teacher, but I spend a lot of time thinking about ways to decorate and redecorate our 1800 square foot home for two. On this blog, I will give insights into how I choose my home decor, step by step guides for DIY home decor that I have done, and other crafty DIY projects that I complete for the special people in my life.
And the most recent thing to change my life in the most wonderful way is my four-legged fur baby, Callie Valentine. From the time I was a little girl, all I could remember thinking was "when I get older, and have a house, I'm going to get a puppy," and finally after 27 long years, I finally got my wish: the cutest little schnoodle (schnauzer/poodle) I had ever seen. She is a crazy, energetic, sweet little cuddlebug, and I wouldn't trade her for the moon and stars. Owning a puppy isn't exactly what I thought it would be, but it is so worth it. Many things I write may be about her, or include her as we go through this crazy thing called life.
I have never been one that has wanted to blog or share my life with the masses, but as I have gotten older, entered into the most wonderful relationship that I have ever had, been given the chance to spread my wings and make a space my own, I have wanted to share some of the little things that make my home and my family special.
